Ductile iron casting, a synthetic metal material that was invented in the middle of the twentieth century, Ductile iron casting is one of the types of iron used to make cast iron. In general, ductile iron has a higher tensile strength than grey iron, the kind of iron traditionally used to make cast iron products. Ductile iron, as its name suggests, is more ductile than traditional iron materials, which tend to be more brittle and prone to fracture under high tensile stress.

Ductile iron casting is commonly used to make cast iron pipes, like those used in water and sewer lines. Ductile iron is used for a variety of applications in many different industries. These industries include, but are not limited to agriculture, automotive, irrigation, ventilation, hydraulics, and manufacturing.
